Inspirational Reading

This slim volume is one that I have read many times, the story of Richard Bach's time spent with a "reluctant Messiah," while they travel around America selling passenger flights in light aircraft.

Manifestation, trust, going with the flow, are all explore in a very readable style, as well as boundary setting setting and preserving ones own identity. There is a wonderful passage where a vampire appears, to illustrate the point that just because a vampire "needs" your blood to survive it is not your duty, as a loving human-being, to provide him with it. Having had many acquaintances with "vampire" tendencies, this is a lesson I sometimes need to remind myself of!

This is one of my favourite books- EVER!

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I am wary of "manuals," but this is written in an autobiographical style. In addition, having experienced similar phenomena to those recounted in the pages of this volume, it was interesting to read somebody else's interpretation.

The messages here are two-fold, covering healing experienced personally and how we can heal our own environment by working with the spirit of nature, and by taking very practical and grounded steps to preserve the beauty of nature. The author's journey takes her on a path along which she examines her own patterns of relationships until she finds her true soul-mate, while inter-acting with many elementals- the Fairies of the title, as well as with the Angelic Realms.

This book may not be for everyone but, this week, it was the right one for me!

A story by Robert Barnes

This is a wonderful story which combines the scientific and the spiritual to warm the heart, as Boji explores his world, and then the world of humans, as he strays from the pod and lives in freedom, being truly himself. It is, in places, reminiscent of Jonathon Livingston Seagull, another exploration of doing something for pure pleasure, for the upliftment of ones spirit and a closer connection to all of nature.
This book was, I feel, guided into my hands. I saw the author speak about his other pusuits but he touched on his love of dolphins as he was leaving that afternoon to see one that was spending time along the coast of Dorset. I went into a shop the same week and saw a copy, but did not yet register this as a clear sign. However, in a second-hand shop I found another, for 30p, and autographed by the writer himself.
I conceded that yes, a pretty story about a dolphin was just what I needed to lift me out of depression and, yes, it did!

This is a very practical, easy to follow book about transforming your surroundings. In the East, FengShui has been used to plan the way people live for centuries and, although your initial perception may be otherwise, a lot of its features are very sensible.
Also mentioned in this book is space-clearing. That is not just a domestic manager's way of making housework sound higher status by re-labelling clearing-up, it is about using various techniques, such as sound and light to clear the energy of the home or place of work.

The book gave me a sound introduction to these concepts, and I have worked with them, and developed them, a great deal. I am very aware of the way my surroundings feel before and after a clearing. Even those of you who claim no psychic sensitivity are probably very able to detect "atmospheres" around human beings and human places.

The bagua is discussed, in a simple form that is easy to apply to your environment, along with the various "cures" such as mirrors, plants and chimes.

the world of fairy drifts further away from the world in which the Christ holds sway. I have no quarrel with the Christ, only with the priests, who call the Great Goddess a demon and deny that she ever held power in this world

This book is a retelling of the story of King Arthur from the female perspective. From my knowledge of the British Isles it is likely to be one of the most accurate, as the religions at the time were "Goddess" based, taking into account the need for balance of the male and female, not suppressing one at the expense of another.

The novel tells the story of the women around Arthur: Guinevere, Morgause, Viviane and Morgaine, against the backdrop of Ancient Britain, whose ways were being eroded by the patriarchy, verging on mysogeny, of Roman Christianity. I first read this book in my early twenties, and was captivated by it as a story alone; following my early visits to The Isle of Avalon I read it again and found it to have a greater depth of meaning than I had ever imagined.

I recommend it, completely, to anyone with an interest in Ancient Religion, although some bookshops keep it strictly in the fantasy section!

Simon Peter Fuller was a founding member of Wholistic World Vision. He travels the world giving talks about his work, about the rising tide of spirituality, and this book documemts his own "awakening" and some of the prophecies and foundations of the "New Age."
Peter is an educated and interesting man, a mine of information. He speaks of the Harmonic Convergance that took place in Glastonbury, when he "grounded" the energies of the Age of Aquarius at the planetary heart chakra, the New Jerusalem announced in Revelations III. Much of his information is linked to the hidden knowledge alluded to by Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code, linking The Master Jesus and his brother disciples to France and England, from where the work has continued.
This is a very interesting read.

I was aware of a "buzz" going on around this book. Just as they had with The Celestine Prophecy, people were setting up groups based on it and its message. There is a part of me that resists doing what everyone else is doing; when I went into bookshops and saw Ms Bays' face smiling out on the blue and gold cover I would walk away.
Eventually, curiosity overpowered me, and I bought a copy. Like me, Brandon Bays has become an optimist, seeing the "diamond" that every person is, without focusing on the layers of dense matter we surround ourselves with. The book begins as an autobiography of her dark days, when all her emotional pain and trauma manifested itself physically, as a base-ball sized tumour within her. Against medical advice she closeted herself away and developed a programme of self-healing, on every level, and the tumour rapidly disappeared. She describes the process, and her own journey, and then provides information so that others can also travel "The Journey."
I have known great healings to occur; I have witnessed them first hand. This book describes a route to healing and, even without a physical dis-ease as extreme as cancer, my own belief is that any dis-harmony of mind or spirit can become serious physical illness if not treated. So, I am pleased to recommend this book as an inspiring read.

For me, an introduction to spirituality

On one of my trips to Glastonbury a group of us were sitting around the kitchen table talking about the use of crystal pendula. It took some practice, holding the crystal steady enough to see a response to our questions, but at some stage in the evening the shiny blue paperback landed before me.
Listening to the enthusiastic comments of the assembled group, I decided to take the book to bed and I was, immediately, hooked. It is a novel, a "spiritual adventure story," which many have found to be life-changing. Over the years I have bought and given away many copies, as it is a brilliant introduction to many concepts that were starting to bubble up inside my head. As I read it was as if the dominoes that I had mentally stood on edge around my life-space were given their final nudge, and they fell freely as I read.
To quote the front cover, The Celestine Prophecy contains "9 key insights into life itself-
insights each human being is being predicted to grasp sequentially, one insight then another, as we move toward a completely spiritual culture on earth." I was, at the time, consciously seeking, as I still am; every day we learn more, as our experience grows. We do not read our way to enlightenment, and there is no one book, no one religion or spiritual practice, but in the reading of this book I pulled together awarenesses previously partly formed: synchronicity, meditation, past lives, attaining and maintaining higher levels of energy are some examples. As a mark of its success, the book was initially self-published, but it caused such a stir in America that it was soon taken up by a mainstream publisher and became a best-seller.

I am happy to recommend this book to anyone. It started me on a journey that has been, and continues to be,full of joy and miracles.
